Canned Food Drive at Overleaf Lodge & Spa

At Overleaf Lodge & Spa, it matters that we are giving members of our community. Our annual Canned Food Drive is just one of the ways we show how much we care, and together with our guests’ help, we make a difference for our hungry neighbors. We strive to make a positive impact by reducing hunger.

“We are really motivated to make a bigger impact on hunger in our coastal communities. We see the need and the importance of stepping up and taking action. In doing so, we can really make a difference – we can all make a difference for our hungry neighbors,” says Kristin Roslund, operating partner for Overleaf Properties.

In 2021, Overleaf Lodge & Spa and its sister property, The Fireside Motel, donated more than 11,000 pounds of collected canned food to the local community. The food is distributed to community members through Waldport Food Share, Yachats Food Pantry, and Food Share of Lincoln County, as well as to the emergency pantry for employees of The Fireside and Overleaf Lodge.

Contributing is a win-win for Overleaf Lodge guests, who take home both memories and a feeling of connectedness to this community when they donate, Kristin says.

“When people come here to visit this beautiful place, see the ocean, breathe the air, and feel like they made a connection – even in a small way – with the people who live and work here, they return again and again. We have many guests who come here every year because they feel a special connection to this place.”

How the Canned Food Drive works

Each winter, guests of Overleaf Lodge & Spa will receive 20% off their stay when they bring a minimum of six non-expired cans of food per night of their stay during the annual Canned Food Drive. Guests should note that the discount is only valid Sunday through Thursday, and it cannot be combined with other discounts. The discount is also not valid on holidays and specific blackout dates on the reservation calendar.

To receive this special discount, mention “Canned Food Drive” to the agent at the time of reservation. If booking your reservation online, write “Food Drive” in the Special Request space when filling out the payment details. Then simply drop off your non-expired canned food donations at the front desk during your stay.
