Based in The Dalles, artist Andy Nichols found his calling in glass blowing in 2001. A self-taught glass blowing artist, Andy founded a studio in the Columbia River Gorge to perfect his craft, building his own equipment and techniques. He is most well-known for his blown glass fish, which are abstract and colorful creations of the salmon, trout and more that are native to the Pacific Northwest. Each fish is unique, and reflects Andy’s individual approach to crafting each piece. His work is found throughout galleries in the Pacific Northwest, as well as at the Overleaf Lodge. “My art has always had a connection with the Ocean and the things in it,” Andy says. “The beautiful color, textures, and motion have always played in to some part of my glass. To have the opportunity to display these creations in glass at the Overleaf was very exciting.”
