Rewinding all the way back to our New Year’s Eve party for all Overleaf Lodge, Overleaf Village, and Fireside Motel guests. We had so much fun ringing in the new year with all of you and can’t wait to do it again this year!
We made a new sea lion friend! He had been hanging out around Overleaf Lodge quite a lot. You never know what wildlife you’ll discover in Yachats!
This was marked by our Annual Food Drive, just one of the ways we give back to our community. Guests help out by bringing in canned food, and in turn get a great discount on a relaxing trip away in Yachats, Oregon. The 2014/2015 drive for Fireside Motel and Overleaf Lodge guests brought in combined total of almost 6,000 pounds of food! Amazing, right?
Guess what; we’re doing it all again right now! You can visit the Overleaf Lodge & Spa Sunday-Thursday nights from October 18 – February 11, 2016, and receive 20% off your nightly room rate when you bring in two canned goods for each night of your stay.
All of the collected canned food will be donated to the Lincoln County food share and distributed to local families. Let’s go for 7,000 pounds of food this year! Read more about the campaign and our offer here.
We noticed some pretty–and unusual–jellyfish and purple snails washed up on the beach of the Oregon Coast. Turns out this was a rare occurrence due to a shift in southerly weather that caused the jellyfish (also known as Purple Sails, or “velella velella”) to appear in great numbers along with their predators, the violet snails to come ashore. Read more about this unique occurrence here.
This was a big day for us. We launched our new logos and websites for Overleaf Lodge, Overleaf Village, and Fireside Motel! We hope that these changes and updates allow our guests, both returning and new, to have a better experience exploring our local area, and enjoying the unique offerings we take pride in sharing with guests at our special Lodge.
Speaking of benefits…One of the great things you can do while staying with us, is take advantage of our onsite Spa. Overleaf Lodge guests are given access to the soothing soaking and hot tub in the spa, which overlooks the dramatic oregon coastline. Stop by and see for yourself during your next stay.
On this day we were happy to wish a couple of our loyal guests, Gordon and Nancy Hiebert, a happy 59th anniversary. We love that we can provide a place to make those special memories year after year and we can’t wait to see the Hieberts again in 2016 for their 60th!
Whale season was in full force, and this day marked one of our more exciting orca sightings of the year! We are fortunate each year to be able to watch the whales when they come closer to shore right from our ocean-view rooms.
What a fun 4th of July weekend we had this year! Fireworks in Waldport on the 3rd, the Yachats Lion Pancake Breakfast on the morning of the 4th, then the Yachats Ladies Ice Cream Social, and the Yachats la de da Parade (including fireworks at sundown). Finally, we closed out the weekend with Matt Nakoa in concert on the 5th. Nothing like a celebration on the Oregon Coast! Spend your 4th with us in 2016. We’ll be sure to post details about the local happenings.
Today we wished our very special guest, Glenna Cramer, a happy 106th birthday! Glenna and her family have been coming to Overleaf Lodge since 1998. Thank you for making us a part of your birthday celebrations! We sure feel like you’re part of our family.
There were some pretty big storms around this time last month, which meant for some pretty awesome storm watching. We had a cozy front row seat at Overleaf Lodge to watch nature’s tempest put on a beautiful show. Read more about it here.
We’ll be celebrating cooler weather, cozy firelight nights and opportunities for hot cocoa all month long. Hope to see you this month as you celebrate with friends and loved ones.
