NEWPORT'S ANNUAL LIGHTED BOAT PARADE

Come down to the Bayfront and enjoy the start of the holiday season with the Lighted Boat Parade. Local boats decorated with festive lights parade along the historic Bayfront. Fees/Admission Free to anyone along the bayfront. To ride on one of the boats please contact Marine Discovery Tours at 541-265-6200 as there is a fee for this.

The Queen Ann style Keeper's House will be decorated with Victorian flourishes inside and out. Enjoy warm drinks and treats and performances by local musicians. Santa Claus will be there, and there will be a holiday raffle with great prizes from local businesses. Shuttle service will be offered from Heceta Head Lightstation State Scenic Area parking lot to the front door. WINTER WHALE WATCH

Escape the valley fog! Experience a cool, clear wintery coast day while seeking a glimpse of gray whales that are passing the Oregon coast on their southward migration from the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center. It is the perfect place to view these great mammals, remaining warm and dry even if the weather changes to wetter conditions.
The visitor center has expansive, ocean facing windows and is perched 100 feet above sea level, providing a great viewing angle.
Programs are scheduled for Whale Watch Week which runs December 26 through 31. Winter Whale Watch Week highlights these whales as they migrate south toward their breeding and calving lagoons.

ANNUAL YACHATS PEACE HIKE

Start the new year on the right foot! Join the Yachats Trails Committee and fellow trekkers for an invigorating 6-mile round trip walk from the Commons to the Amanda trail and statue where the group will offer blessings for peace in the New Year. Hikers will then be invited to walk or shuttle back to the Commons for refreshments and to collect a commemorative Peace Hike button. In the event of heavy rain or wind, a shorter hike on an alternative route will take place. Dress for changeable weather, wear sturdy shoes and bring walking sticks if you have them. The hike will be on both paved and narrow dirt trail surfaces with some stairs and moderate inclines. 10am-1pm

4th ANNUAL YACHATS AGATE FESTIVAL

The village gem invites you to the 4th annual Yachats Agate Festival and Gem-Mineral-Fossil Show. The festival weekend will feature spectacular displays as well as family friendly learning opportunities for all ages. There will be special guest speakers and the Oregon Coast Agate Club will also be joining in with demonstrations and club displays. Presented by Planet Yachats and sponsored by the Yachats Area Chamber of Commerce.
