Gerdemann Garden Tour & Celebration!
April 12
Jim Gerdemann, a retired plant pathology professor, and Janice Gerdemann, a retired teacher, have spent the past 30 years collecting plants and adapting them to the unique microclimate of their wooded property just north of Yachats on the central Oregon coast.
To protect the Gerdemann Garden, View the Future, a community-based nonprofit corporation dedicated to preserving the natural beauty of the central coast, will establish a permanent conservation easement as well as an endowment fund to provide for maintenance, outreach, and educational programs.
Come view the Gerdemann Garden. Tours will depart from the Commons. The celebration starts at 1:30 p.m.. For more information contact Andrea Scharf @ 541-547-3092.
The garden includes Oregon natives, unusual rare plants, magnolia, camelia, many rhododendron species and hybrids including Jim's handcrossed tropical vireya. Visitors to the garden have come from all over the world to study this botanical collection and enjoy the serenity of wandering down the paths and discovering beauty and diversity with every step.
